Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Responds To Criticism Around Not Using An Actual CGI Hedgehog For Titular Role

Following overwhelming negative backlash for not casting an actual CGI hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog movie has fired and replaced its lead.

Upon the release of the movie’s first trailer it became apparent to all that the producers for Sonic The Hedgehog movie had hired a non-hedgehog to play the titular role. Unsurprisingly, fans of the franchise were unhappy and they made their voices heard.

As culture progresses forward and Hollywood takes aim at having greater inclusion within the film industry, many saw the hiring of this non-hedgehog as problematic.

“There just aren’t that many roles for CGI-hedgehogs. If we give this role to a non-hedgehog then what’s left?

“I mean you can tell from the trailer that it’s a CGI-squirrel. The performance would be totally unbelievable and honestly it feels appropriation”

On the other hand, many found no problem with the casting of the CGI-squirrel:

“It’s acting. At the end of the day if the CGI-squirrel will put on the best performance then it should be his role. PC and cancel culture have gone too far. There’s nothing that says a CGI-hedgehog can’t get a role as a CGI-lemur or a supporting role in an HBO original series.”

The debate rages on. Many are protesting the movie’s release. Others are having watch parties. The country truly seems to have lost its coins on this one.
