This weekend my Guardians came through and kicked the snot out of the Vipers just like I said they would. For months I’ve been waiting for this rivalry game. I’ve been taking so much heat from the Vipers crowd. Even my coworkers and close friends were giving it to me. Whenever I’d bring up the upcoming Guardians season they would neg me with a “what are you talking about dude?”. Haha. Pretty funny at first but got a bit old. But hey, who ever said Vipers fans were creative?
So after months of lead up and prep the big day came. My Guardians were back. I’ve been following the preseason step by step and I truly believed it was our year. And as always, the critics doubted us. We went into the game as big underdogs. Guess the “experts” forgot about a little gunslinger by the name of Matt Mygroin (sp?).
The Ians went to work and shocked the world. So I did as any hardcore fan would and I went to Twitter to gloat. But what I saw was truly disturbing. All the haters and all the critics had joined the Guards bandwagon all of a sudden. Celebrating in my victory. Saying they’ve been a fan since the third quarter. Sorry buddy, but you’re late. Someone of us have been there since the start (Q1). Some of us have been waiting for this day for the entire span of their fandom. New York has been waiting for the Uards to bring the hardware back to it’s rightful place. And frankly there just isn’t any more room on this bandwagon.
It feels like Golden State Warriors circa 2013. Everyone can see the talent and now they want in. The Dians are here to stay. You will see them in the Million Dollar game that’s for sure. They may control the next decade of X-ball. So I’m sorry if you were late. Ard train is long gone.
