I’ve said it before but it’s worth saying again: The best part about the internet was letting everyone have an opinion but the worst part was finding out everyone had one.
Full stop. I understand the irony of me bashing people having opinions. I’m out here blogging my opinions multiple times a week. I’m self – aware. Is it cool if I carry on?
You know that theory about how there are an infinite amount of universes in which every possible outcome has occurred. No? Cool you must have had sex in high school. Anyway, this is how I feel about the universe of opinions.
Every opinion imaginable exists and, to make matters worse, you can find a significant amount of people who will support any given opinion.
Think water is useless? So does this group of people. Think breathing is overrated? Why not check out this little group over here. Think you are god? Have you met these other gods?
Every opinion exists and there is no time period that this concept is more center stage than during election season. Which brings me to the Bernie debate. Bernie Sanders announced he will be running for president once again in 2020 and here were the reactions (in chronological order):
- People were angry
- But then, some people were excited
- But then, some people couldn’t understand how others could be excited. I mean you do know that Bernie is the reason why the Democrats lost the election, right?
- But then, people were floored that you could blame Bernie for the election loss. I mean he campaigned across the country for Hilary once he lost the primary.
- But then, people were insistent that it was too late at that point as the Dems were already divided by Bernie
- But then, people were idigniant and not going to apologize for supporting a candidate that has fought for civil rights his entire career
- But then, people didn’t care if you loved or hated Bernie, having either opinion was incredibly annoying
- But then people took umbrage with this sentiment and were not going to back down because it was considered uncool to have an opinion.
DO YOU SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING PEOPLE. All the opinions were had. Then the opinon that opinions are annoying happened. Then the opinion that having the opinion that opinions are annoying is a bad opinion happened. It’s endless. I legitimately would rather have the octopus that predicts the world cup winner select the next president if it would allow us to avoid this tiresome and unproductive back and forth. But hey, that’s just my opinion.
