It’s official. Done deal. Carve it in stone. The Jets are now the Giants and the Giants are now the Jets. Traditionally, the Giants are the New York team to watch. They’re the New York team that makes the smart long term decisions. They’re the New York team with the franchise QB. They’re the New York team that wins. Excelsior!
But all of that has now changed!
In the 2018 NFL draft, The New York Giants made the short-sighted decision to draft running back Saquon Barkley in lieu of securing their future by selecting the predecessor to 37 year old Eli Manning. This bone-head move left the door wide open for the New York Jets to miraculously land on their savior. The 20 Year Old Vet. The Big Headed Baby. The Red Gazelle. The Touchdown Bro. Shaka Bra And Dropping Dimes. Sam Darnold. And that’s when everything swapped. Freaky Friday style. Giants fans will need to truly understand what it’s been like to be a Jets fans and then, and only then, will they be able to switch back.
Now you may say that I’m calling this way too early as Sam Darnold and the New York Jets haven’t even played their first game of the season yet. This type of bold take usually leads to someone getting egg on their face. Well guess what. I’ve been getting egg on my face for as long as I’ve been a Jets fan. I’m used to it. I love it. I bathe in egg. So don’t you worry about me.
Tonight, when Sam Darnold takes the field in the green and white it will be official. We will be in the new era. The era where the Jets have a franchise quarterback and stability. But more importantly, it will be the era where the Giants have decades of chaos and the media asking “What were they thinking?”. Enjoy your pretty Saquon runs. It will probably help the losses hurt less (it wont).
P.S. we signed the Giants back up QB Davis Webb in true villain fashion. Who are we the fucking Patriots? Eh I’ll wait for Darnold’s five rings before we lock that one in.
