They say there are only 7 types of stories. But for HBO I think that may be 6 too many.
Recently, at the suggestion of multiple friends, I’ve started to watch the new HBO show Succession. I’m really enjoying it so far and it’s definitely filled the TV void left by the end of Game Of Thrones.
Wait a second.
THIS IS GAME OF THRONES!
I don’t know why it took me so long to realize but it’s legitimately the same exact show. It’s a bunch of people, many related by blood or marriage, all fighting for the same job. There’s lying, backstabbing, deceit. I never know which characters are telling each other the truth or if they are even telling me the truth. It’s the same show pushed forward like a few thousand years.
And I don’t give a fuck!

I usually get mad when Hollywood relies on remakes. When it’s obvious I call it lazy. But when it’s slightly hidden enough where it takes me 4 and a half episodes to realize that they just moved the plot to a different location and it’s too late to turn back because I’m already invested in the characters, well, fuck man, let’s ride this for another 8 seasons until I get mad at the writers for the finale.
