Tom Brady has been haunting me for over a decade now and frankly I’m not positive it’s ever going to end. As a lifelong Jets fan, Tom Brady has been my Boogie Man for as long as I can remember. I don’t just want him to retire. I need him to retire. Unfortunately, I’m convinced that this human nightmare won’t quit until he has proven every single person on the planet wrong. So I beg you, please stop saying that Tom Brady’s career is over.
Recently, the new trend among the media and the Twittersphere has been to make the “bold” claim that Brady is over the hill. Listen, I get it. There’s only two types of stories we tell in sports: The rise to the top and the fall from grace. Everyone wants to be the first on the scene to break the news that the Patriots’ reign of dominance is officially over. What none of these blood sucking leeches realize is that this is only making Brady work harder.
I know the 2000 draft was a very long time ago and it’s not new information that Brady was picked #199. But, what is left undiscussed is the rather large and always present chip that resides on Brady’s shoulder. It never went away. Just because he has won 5 Superbowls and is often in the conversation for being one of the greatest of all time does not mean that this chip has disappeared. He will not stop until he has proven every single person wrong. Not until the discussion is over and he is unanimously considered the GOAT.
And you FOOLS keep doubting him! You absolutely FOOLS! You are all responsible for this never ending cycle of dominance. Why would you say he’s over the hill? How dare you make a case for Aaron Rodgers being a better quarterback? Brady heard that and then went and ripped Rodger’s soul out of his body.
Please, just agree he is the greatest. Agree that when he decides to exit the league it will be on his own terms and because he has nothing else to achieve. Tell him he will go out on top. And remove that menacing chip from his shoulder once and for all. As a Jets fan, I beg you.
