Stein vs. The Field – Week 5

You might have been wondering where I’ve been the past two weeks. Probably not, but you might have been. I was laying low, surveying the field. While suckers were continuing to throw their money at the wall, I was watching from the shadows. And now finally, like Batman, I reemerge when the world needs me the most.

My Week 2 was much better than Week 1. And frankly, all the betting guys you follow were trash through two weeks, so eat me. Let’s get it – and you heard it here first, this is the week of the underdog cover.

Week 2: 7-8

2019 Season: 12-18

THE LOCKS

Chicago Bears at Oakland Raiders (+4.5)

Sunday, Oct 6 – 1:05 EST

This game should be a homecoming for Khalil Mack, but the NFL absolute botched it by sending these teams to London. Regardless, let me tell you something about this man, Khalil Mack. He’s going to want to absolutely destroy Jon Gruden and the Oakland Raiders. He’s going to crush Derek Carr like a fortune cookie.

Now, here’s the only issue with all of this. The Bears offense just straight up hasn’t been any good. Most of this is Mitch Trubisky’s fault – the guy has 588 passing yards, 3 TD throws and 2 picks through 3+ games.

But now it’s Chase Daniel time! Matt Nagy will devise a strong gameplan, and the Bears will win by at least a touchdown. That being said, any Raiders haters shouldn’t be chirping after the Silver and Black’s 2-2 start to the season.

Pick: Bears -4.5

Atlanta Falcons at Houston Texans (-5)

Sunday, Oct 6 – 1:05 EST

The Atlanta Falcons are a dangerous type of shit. They’re the type of shit that, one of these weeks, is going to punch one of their opponents in the mouth, score 5 TDs, and remind everyone how dangerous this offense can be. And don’t tell me that their upset of Philly was that game – the Eagles were down to having Doug Pederson play wideout in that game.

But this isn’t that week. And though the Texans have themselves underperformed, I like them this week at home to get back on track. Bill O’Brien did not coach his best game in last week’s home loss to the Panthers, but what better way to get your coaching mojo flowing again than with Dan Quinn coming to town?

Pick: Texans -5

New England Patriots at Washington Redskins (+15.5)

Sunday, Oct 6 – 1:05 EST

Do I really need to explain this one? Good luck, Haskins.

Pick: Patriots -15.5
