Some Thoughts On The First Week Of The NFL

The first week of football is behind us and I have a few thoughts:

Baker Mayfield Wanted To Lose

Before the Brown’s took the field on Sunday commentators were seriously asking if they had what it took to make it to the Superbowl. The Season of Hype was real. People were excited. And then they took the field and got knocked down a few pegs.

This was exactly what Baker Mayfield wanted. Baker is a good football player but he is not a good actor. If you watched him on Sunday you could tell he was not being his usual fired up self. He needed to lose because the only way he knows how to play well is with a chip on his shoulder.

He cannot motivate himself when people believe in him. He threw this game so that tomorrow when he’s in the weight room he can have Colin Cowherd’s show on volume 100 and bench 500 pounds.

Antonio Brown’s Biggest Problem Is That He Lacks Charisma

The Antonio Brown saga was nuts. I don’t need to recount that circus as I’m sure you’re all familiar. The one thing that no one seems to be talking about is how unlikeable AB is.

I’m the biggest fan of diva WRs. Legit can’t get enough of them. My favorite football clip of all time is Terrell Owens celebrating on the Dallas Cowboy’s star.

In the early 2000s, wide receivers were celebrating like this all the time and it was amazing.

Antonio Brown is the best receiver in the league but he wants to be the most famous one too. Problem is that he lacks any of the charisma or likability of a TO or a Chad Johnson or even Odell Beckham Jr. His antics aren’t’ funny or entertaining, they’re annoying.

I’d Like An Apology From Myself For Convincing Myself The Jets Were Going To Be Good This Year

I don’t know what happens every fall but it’s as if I’ve never seen a game of Jets football before. I become stupidly optimistic. It’s disgusting.

Before Sunday, I quietly had the word “playoffs” bouncing around my brain. I’m ashamed to admit that. Sunday’s loss to the Bills was atrocious.

Losing hurts. It just hurts more when I somehow don’t expect it.
