Should Fans Boo Players That Leave For Another Team?

Baseball is back and boy is that boring. Maybe that’s an outdated opinion but I don’t care .Baseball sucks and so do people who like it. I personally think that everyone should get the day after the Super Bowl off from work except the people who say “X days until pitchers and catchers”.

Anyway, all things considered, I’ve been following a bit of the baseball story lines this season. Well, actually, just one story line: Bryce Harper leaving DC for Philly. This all came to a head last night as Harper made his return to DC with his new team and boy did the Nationals fans let him have it. He eventually shut them up with an absolute dinger (can’t believe I’m using baseball lingo) but that’s not the point. The debate that sparked online is whether it’s right to boo a player that spent years on your team or if this player should be met with respect.

I’m taking a hard stance on this one. I don’t care if a player was traded, signed, fled, kidnapped, or fell into a bear trap and got dragged to another city in a net. If a player used to play for your city and now he doesn’t, you boo him. Boo him hard. Boo him always.

Remember when Hue Jackson got fired from the Browns so he took a job with the Bengals and the Browns were mad. They fired this man so he had to take the first job he could get in order to support his family and yet the Browns relentlessly trolled him. THAT’S INSANE AND EXACTLY THE WAY IT NEEDS TO BE!

Sports are only fun if it’s a “if you’re not with us, you’re against us” mentality. Especially, if you used to be with us. People treat their favorite sports teams like they are members of their own family. If you wake up tomorrow and your little brother is paying the neighbor’s rent then you’re damn sure going to boo him when he comes home for the holidays.
